Kid Rock Makes ‘Night Moves’ With Bob Seger in Nashville

Kid Rock performs the very first show at the new Little Caesars Arena on Sept. 12, 2017 in Detroit.

Kid Rock — whose been battling Nashville civic authorities and activists in recent weeks over his political views and the sign for his Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N' Roll Steakhouse — joined Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band at Bridgestone Arena on Friday night (Jan. 11).

Seger told the crowd that "I've known (Rock) since he started in music," while Rock said that it was "an honor to be here tonight, joining my friend and absolute musical hero here… Over 50 years, one of the best singer-songwriters in American history. Maybe his last time in Nashville. I sure hope not."

Rock joined the headliner for a finale rendition of "Rock N' Roll Never Forgets," the opening track from Seger's 1976 album Night Moves.

Seger and Rock both hail from Detroit but have ties to Nashville; Rock owns residences in and around town, while Seger has done a great deal of recording there, including for his 2017 album I Knew You When.

Social friends away from music, Seger and Rock have a long history of joining each other on stage dating back to February of 2006, when Seger, then on a hiatus from touring, played "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" with Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker band during Super Bowl XL weekend shows at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena. Rock then joined Seger and the Silver Bullets at the Orlando Calling festival during November of 2011, and the two played a pair of shows on the same bill in Minneapolis and Fargo, N.D., during March of 2013.

Seger also joined Rock onstage at the DTE Energy Music Theatre on Aug. 20, 2013, when Rock tied Seger's record with eight sold-out nights at the venue (Rock broke it with 10 shows two years later).

Seger has Final Tour dates booked into May but is expected to stretch his farewell trek into the summer and perhaps beyond, though no formal announcements have been made.
