Mr Sherriff Oborevwori, former Speaker, Delta state House of Assembly, was on Monday re-elected for the seventh Assembly.
Oborevwori was re-elected with Mr Chris Ochor Ochor as deputy Speaker respectively after the House unanimously agreed to drop the former deputy Speaker, Friday Osanebi.
Oborevwori emerging for the second time, hails from Okpe local government area of Delta state, also emerging from Delta central.
Strong indications are before the election that Chief James Ibori’s daughter, Erhitiake Ibori- Sounu, representing Ethiope West constituency, and Rueben Izeze representing Ughelli North constituency were lined up to slug it out with Oborevwori.
But this was not as Delta political leaders and Chief James Ibori, two time governor of the state insist Sherriff Oborevwori was experienced and matured as such should be re-elected for the second time.
Oborevwori a seasoned technocrat, and cerebral politician was given a soft landing with standing ovation from political watchers, especially chieftains of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) who unanimously hailed the decision.
His deputy, Chris Ochor Ochor representing Ukwuani constituency is a seasoned politician with large crowd of followership for his accessibly to all in the political terrain.
Investigation revealed that among the 29 member elect of the seventh Assembly are 11re- elected members of the sixth Assembly, and 18 new members.
Speaker, Sherriff Oborevwori however assured Deltans of transparent legislative activism in collaboration with the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa stronger Delta agenda.
